Welcome to my museum! I hope you enjoy looking at how leadership is so present in African Art. I also hope that it gets the cogs in your brain thinking about how leadership is, if you think at all, involved in art in our culture. Look around and enjoy!
Throughout our class this semester I have noticed that there often tends to be a theme of leadership among different objects and cultures. African Art has been used in several different ways to portray their kings and gods by setting up hierarchies or teachings by the use of art. While each object may be different and not directly signify leadership, objects are used in different ways to symbolize the idea community, learning and the general idea of leadership.
I have chosen to organize objects according to peoples. When thinking about a logical way to set up the objects, I could not come up with sections that would be all-inclusive to each object or how it deals with leadership. This being said, keep in mind that leadership in art is very interpretive to all. When looking at objects, be open to new ideas of leadership. After all, we each have different leadership styles in our own culture. Why would that not be true for another?
